1996 - The TOKAMAK group of the Research Station of the Institute of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences initiated the studies of influence of external energy impacts (vibrations) on inelastic deformation and destruction of rock samples using the method of acoustic emission as an indicator of changes of the mode of deformation processes. 

1999 – creation of the Rheological Laboratory after reorganization of the TOKAMAK group. Leonid M. Bogomolov (candidate of sciences in physics and mathematics) became the head of the Laboratory.

 Leonid M. Bogomolov is the ideological inspirer and the organizer of laboratory simulation. He had done much work in the laboratory and had written a lot of articles. Since 2008, Leonid Mikhailovich Bogomolov has been working in the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. 

2000 – On the basis of mutual advantage, the Institute of Rocks’ Physics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan provided the Laboratory with the machine for long run tests (UDI) constructed by Stavrogin (VNIMI, Saint-Petersburg)

2001 – New name of the “Rheological Laboratory” is now the “Laboratory of Energy-Saturated Media Simulation” (LESMS)

2001 – start of laboratory simulation – system studies of influence of different types of external energy actions (electric and magnetic fields, crossed electromagnetic fields and vibrations) on the processes of destruction of rocks and manufactured heterogeneous materials which are in the stressedly-deformed state imitating the real geological medium.

2001-2003 – Within the frameworks of CRDF award № YG-2316-B1-02, we brought the Westerly granite samples (California) from the USA which were then used in our first serial tests. 

2003 – present time – ongoing tests on samples of different geomaterials: natural: granites (Tabylga, Kyrgyzstan; Westerly, California), granodiorite, halite,    quartzite, marble, gabbro, manufactured materials: ceramic, concrete (with inclusions of granite chips and pyrophyllite).

2007 – creation of the lever press on the base of UDI.

2008 – joint works with V.A.Gavrilov (Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) which initiated the development of a new direction of researches – detection of geophysical medium response to external actions by measuring geoacoustic emission in wells using geoacoustic sensor (geophone).

2008-2009 – development of complex for measuring geoacoustic emission and conduction of the first field measurements.

2012 - An underground bunker for field measurements was installed in the immediate vicinity of the feeding dipole. It houses seismic acoustic emission and seismic noise signal receivers, which continuously measure and accumulate information.
