News of the Laboratory of Deep Magnetotelluric Studies (LDMS)

In October and November,2016, the LDMS staff fulfilled the field works by the method of magnetotelluric soundings on the Kentor site (on 34 points of Central and East profiles) and in surroundings of Noorus settlement. The registration of MT-field was performed with the help of Phoenix MTU-5 and MTU-5A measuring complexes. Field works were conducted at a height of 2000 m above sea level. Time of field recording was 14 – 18 hours. The MT data in a range from 0,001 to 3000 sek. were obtained. The works were complicated by poor weather conditions (thunder storms, rains, snow and low temperature).

In the third decade of October the works on Ukok profile in the surroundings of Kochkor village were conducted. MT soundings were carried out on 7 points of observation: six points were in the center of profile with 150 – 200 m step, and the sevenths points is stationary and time of field recording was 68 hours.
